As announced by President Muma on May 8, 2024, 九色视频 updated its to better support the vision and mission. Academic research efforts and the industry and defense research program will once again be united in one office under the leadership of Dr. John Tomblin, Executive Vice President for Research and Industry & Defense Programs. A common first step in establishing an NSF research center is to demonstrate success with an REU (Research Experience for Undergraduates) Site in the field of interest. REU Sites are also helpful in recruiting graduate students. Vice Provost Coleen Pugh and any interested teams will coordinate and work on their proposals for submission in 2024, following a similar approach used in 2023, to separate NSF divisions.

NIHCM Foundation Affordability Roadmap Series Recordings Available

NIHCM's Affordability Roadmap Series will explore federal spending on health programs amid ongoing budget compromise discussions, as well as provide policy and market solutions to improve health care affordability, without compromising quality.鈥
National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments Lessons from the Field Webinar Series: Preventing and Address School Violence Including Gun Violence
鈥淭he U.S. Department of Education is hosting a webinar series to address hot topics that are on the top of educators鈥 minds. After sharing federal updates, the series features lessons learned and best practices from faculty, staff, schools, districts, institutions of higher education, early childhood education providers, and other places of educational instruction. It also shares a variety of useful resources. The Preventing and Addressing School Violence including Gun Violence Miniseries offers webinars focused on evidence-based practices to prevent and address gun violence in school communities. The series provides strategies to implement at key stages to support schools in providing support and utilizing systems to prevent violence incidents; embedding comprehensive gun violence prevention into emergency operations plans; responding to violent incidents and implementing interventions; and supporting students and staff in recovery after a violent incident.鈥

Learn to Use BeoShock for your Advanced Research Computing Needs
九色视频 continues to host Beoshock, a High-Performance Computing Cluster (HPC). This HPC is available and free to faculty members, researchers and students engaged in course work or research activities. BeoShock runs the CentOS Linux operating system and features approximately 720 processor cores, two high memory compute nodes with 1.5 terabytes of memory, and four graphics processing unit (GPU) accelerators. BeoShock also has a variety of software tools that may be helpful in your research endeavors,such as Matlab, Mathematica, R, Python and many more.

National Artificial Intelligence Research Resource (NAIRR) Pilot Resources Now Available!
The NAIRR Pilot aims to connect U.S. researchers and educators to computational, data, and training resources needed to advance AI research and research that employs AI. Federal agencies are collaborating with government-supported and non-governmental partners to implement the Pilot as a preparatory step toward an eventual full NAIRR implementation. Resources include advanced computing systems; cloud computing platforms; access to models, software and privacy enhancing technology tools and collaborations to train models; and education platforms.
ARPA-H: Launches Exploration Topic to Improve Chatbots for Patient-Facing Applications
ARPA-H鈥檚 recently launched CARE (Chatbot Accuracy and Reliability Evaluation) ET (Exploration Topic) will fund the development of novel technical approaches to improve the testing and evaluation of chatbot outputs for patient-facing applications. CARE ET aims to produce tools and technology to better evaluate the reliability of medical chatbots with the efficiency of computational methods and the accuracy of human experts.
National Institutes of Health (NIH): Notice of Special Interest (NOSI): Women鈥檚 Health Research
鈥淚n alignment with the White House Initiative on Women鈥檚 Health Research, NIH is issuing this NOSI to highlight interest in receiving research applications focused on diseases and health conditions that predominantly affect women (e.g., autoimmune diseases; depressive disorders, Alzheimer鈥檚 disease and Alzheimer鈥檚 disease-related dementias, gender-based-violence), present and progress differently in women (e.g., cardiovascular disease; HIV; reproductive aging and its implications), or are female-specific (e.g., uterine fibroids; endometriosis; menopause).鈥

Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality (AHRQ): Notice of Intent to Publish a Funding Opportunity Announcement for Examining the Impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Healthcare Safety (R18)
AHRQ intends to publish a Notice of Funding Opportunity to invite grant applications that support healthcare safety by determining (1) whether and how certain breakthrough uses of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems can affect patient safety; and (2) how AI systems can be safely implemented and used. AI has the potential to improve the safety, effectiveness, efficiency, accessibility, and affordability of healthcare. However, as with most technologies, this potential must be balanced by identifying and mitigating possible risks for patient harm and user burden.
Agency for Healthcare Research & Quality (AHRQ): Special Emphasis Notice (SEN): AHRQ Announces Interest in Health Services Research to Improve Care Delivery, Access, Quality, Equity, and Health Outcomes for Older Adults
The purpose of this SEN is to inform the research community of the AHRQ鈥檚 strong and continued interest in receiving health services research grant applications that advance the Nation鈥檚 goal of improving care delivery, access, quality, equity, and health outcomes for older adults. Specifically, the Agency encourages research teams to submit applications in response to this emphasis using AHRQ鈥檚 standing R18, R03, and R01 funding mechanisms. Additionally, AHRQ is interested in receiving dissertation grant proposals addressing health services aging research using AHRQ鈥檚 R36 funding mechanism. Applicants should clearly state in their grant application鈥檚 project summary/abstract that their application is responsive to this SEN by including the title and number of this SEN NOT-HS-24-013. Applicants should also enter the number of this SEN in box 4b of the SF 424 Application Form.
U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization Office (IEDO) Requesting Information on Decarbonization of America鈥檚 Industrial Sector
DOE鈥檚 Request for Information (RFI) will inform a new DOE vision study, that will 鈥渋dentify cost-effective and industry-specific strategic pathways to achieve a thriving U.S. industrial sector with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.鈥 The RFI and corresponding study will 鈥渃onsider the technical, financial, social, environmental, and health challenges and opportunities associated with the scale and pace of an industrial transformation.鈥 Input is requested by June 10, 2024.
