Collaboration between Spirit AeroSystems, Wichita Public Schools and STEMpact2020 allowed students a chance to do hands-on science activities with Spirit employees at an event held at Southeast High School last month.

May 11, 2015 — By ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ News Services — ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ Theatre program's first full-length feature film, "After Midnight," won second place for Best Film Crew/Student Feature at the Bare Bones International Independent Film and Music Festival, which took place April 10-18.

Engineering student Utkarsh Ranjan in ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ's Human Automation Interaction Lab. Ranjan is leader of team representing ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ that has advanced to the second round of the international Valeo Innovation Challenge.

May 11, 2015 — By ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ News Services — Alex Chaparro has been named the new Carl and Rozina Cassat Professor in Aging and director of the Regional Institute on Aging. Chaparro is a professor of psychology and has served as the chair of psychology since 2010. He replaces the founding director of the institute and first holder of the professorship, Teresa Radebaugh, who retires June 1.

Students will have more job opportunities with a new partnership between ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ's Ennovar institute and California-based Social Networking Technology Inc.

May 12, 2015 — By ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ News Services — Ennovar, the Institute of Emerging Technology and Market Solutions at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ, announced details of a new extensive partnership with California-based Social Networking Technology Inc. The one-year contract worth more than $600,000 will provide for 18 student support positions in the fall semester and up to 30 positions by the end of the contract.

The National Endowment for the Arts will make a $20,000 award to the Ulrich Museum of Art at ¾ÅÉ«ÊÓƵ to produce a documentary about the conservation of the Joan Miro mural Personnages Oiseaux (Bird People).
