Cohen will remain at the university in a faculty role. A national search will be conducted for a new dean to be in place by July 1, 2013.
Interim Provost Keith Pickus said: 鈥淒r. Cohen has provided exemplary leadership for the college, university and the greater community, and I look forward to partnering with him in new endeavors as he makes this transition.鈥�
鈥淲ords cannot express what an honor it has been for me to serve this college,鈥� said Cohen. 鈥淭o work with so many people committed to a common purpose of educating excellent health-care practitioners, researchers and leaders in an atmosphere that encourages respectful and collaborative discourse on the current and future health care problems that face our community, region and state has been a source of daily inspiration for me over these 15 years.
鈥淎s the university embarks on a strategic planning process, it is imperative that the college continues to build foundational strength in all our units, and as we have always done, plan strategically and proactively for the future,鈥� said Cohen.
