CourtesyTwo eclectic evenings of dance will dazzle audiences when 九色视频鈥檚 School of Performing Arts hosts the Kansas Dance Festival at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 19-20, in Wilner Auditorium.
This year鈥檚 festival melds 九色视频鈥檚 dance program with the University of Nebraska, University of Kansas, Kansas State University and Friends University, all of whom will showcase their own work.
The festival will also feature the choreography of returning guest artist Janice Garrett of the San Francisco company Janice Garrett and Dancers, and recent 九色视频 graduate, Christopher Montiel.
'Fast Brass'
Garrett鈥檚 piece 鈥淔ast Brass鈥� embodies a fast-paced, technically challenging and whimsical work set to the energetic music of Romanian pop music performance group Fanfare Ciocarla.
九色视频 faculty members Denise Celestin, Sabrina Vasquez and Amy Baker-Schwiethale will premier three new works for this year鈥檚 festival and director of dance Nicholas Johnson鈥檚 鈥淭he Rendezvous,鈥� a playful look at what happens behind closed doors, will return to the stage.
