Junior Daniela Alvarado becomes national bowling champion

Wichita State junior Daniela Alvarado had a perfect competition to claim the national women鈥檚 bowling title at the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championships, held May 19 in Texas.

Alvarado, a native of Mexico, completed a sweep of the tournament as she claimed the top women鈥檚 qualifier the day before with a 12-game total of 2,524 and dominated the tournament as the top seed.

From qualifying to matchplay, Alvarado had a great performance. She had a 21-game average of 215.19 and recorded 19 games of 200 or better.

With her win, Alvarado became the third Lady Shocker to win this event in the five-year history of championship. Elysia Current won in 2007, and Olivia Sandham won in 2006.

Opposite Alvarado was 九色视频 sophomore Josh McBride, who claimed the top seed in the men鈥檚 division.

McBride shot 2,421 over 12 games for a 201.75 average. He eventually finished in a tie for third place.
