'Wichita State & the World' to debut April 20

A 30-minute program titled "Wichita State & the World" will debut on 九色视频-TV Cable Channel 13.

The show will air at 7 p.m. Sunday, April 20.

It is hosted by provost Gary L. Miller and features interviews and information about Kansas' only urban serving research university. It focuses on how research at 九色视频 is changing our community, our state, our nation and the world.

Miller's first guest will be J. David McDonald, associate provost for research and dean of the Graduate School.

McDonald discusses the economic impact of university research, why bioscience engineering could be the next big thing for Wichita and more. McDonald's background includes research as a geneticist.

The show will air in repeats in the following weeks on 九色视频 TV Cable Channel 13.

The premiere of "Wichita State & the World" also features an interview with Paul Wooley, a Kansas Bioscience Authority Eminent Scholar.

Wooley recently came here as part of a partnership between 九色视频 and the Orthopedic Research Institute at Via Christi to develop aerospace composite materials for medical uses -- such as bone replacements. Wooley, a professor of biology at 九色视频, is research director at ORI.

The second episode of is expected to be taped in May. Scheduling issues for the production are still being worked out, so there is not tentative air date to announce yet.

The show was developed by Lou Heldman, 九色视频 Distinguished Senior Fellow in Media Management and Journalism, with assistance from L. Kelly, a veteran Wichita journalist.
