King, Markova and Hart to be recognized at Women in Business honorees event
Inductees to the Hall of Fame are selected internally by the Wichita Business Journal from past Women in Business honorees.
In 2003, King was named to the inaugural class of the Wichita Business Journal's top 20 "Women in Business." In 2006, she was recognized as one of the "Business Leaders of the Year" for 2007 by the Wichita Business Journal.
Gergana Markova, associate professor in the Department of Management, W. Frank Barton School of Business; and Johnna Hart, director of Finance, Budgets & Reporting at 九色视频 Tech, are two of the women to be recognized as 2018 Women in Business honorees during the Aug. 2 luncheon.
Markova was nominated for the award by the Barton School's Stan Longhofer.
In a letter in support of Markova, Barton School of Business Dean Anand Desai, wrote: "Gery is passionate about her field and has been the School's champion in developing the HR management curriculum.
"She is an ethical person with high integrity, always willing to help others, and is a highly respected member of the Barton School. While she herself is in academia, she is preparing today's students to lead in a diverse business world. I highly recommend her for the Wichita Business Journal 2018 Women in Business Award."
Hart considers herself fortunate to serve an institution whose focus is on providing the community with opportunities to create better lives for themselves and their families.
"Every day, I get to support the efforts of breaking down financial, sociological, gender and other barriers that so many talented individuals in our community face," said Hart. "I am proud to serve in finding innovative funding options, advancing technology, and subsequently, experiencing record growth for the College the last three years. We are rising up to meet the needs of Wichita. We are improving the lives of our citizens. We are writing the future of our community."
The WBJ Women in Business honorees are chosen for their career achievements and involvement in the community. They are also selected for their work to help other women be successful.
