Westar Energy provides grant for youth economic and financial literacy

The Kansas Council for Economic Education (KCEE) recently received a $3,500 grant from Westar Energy for its youth economic and financial literacy initiatives. KCEE is a nonprofit organization that is affiliated with all of Kansas' six public universities and hosted by the W. Frank Barton School of Business at 九色视频.

The vision of KCEE is that every K-12 student in Kansas will become economically and financially literate so they will be more knowledgeable consumers, wiser savers and investors, better employees and more responsible citizens.

In order to reach as many students as possible, the mission of KCEE is to equip teachers to teach economics and personal finance. KCEE provides professional development opportunities for teachers, curriculum resources, and programs and competitions that engage students through experiential learning and practical applications of knowledge.

KCEE's highly regarded programs and competitions include The Stock Market Game, LifeSmarts, Financial Foundations for Kids, the Kansas Personal Finance Challenge, the Kansas Economics Challenge and the Kansas Economics Poster Contest. KCEE reaches more than 100,000 students through more than 1,000 teachers throughout the state each year.
