Jones and Speer receive prestigious CPACC certification

This spring, John Jones, director of the Media Resources Center (MRC), and Carolyn Speer, manager of Instructional Design and Access in the MRC, were both awarded the CPACC certification from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals (IAAP) (http://www.accessibilityassociation.org).

IAAP is a not-for-profit organization for people and organizations working to improve or advance accessibility and is a division of the Global Initiative for Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies (G3ict), an advocacy initiative launched by the United Nations Global Alliance for Information and Communications Technology and Development.

The IAAP offers two certifications: the Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) representing broad, conceptual knowledge about disabilities, accessibility, universal design, and the related standards, laws and management strategies, and the Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) which is a technical exam for individuals working in web accessibility (http://www.accessibilityassociation.org/certification).

As of December, 2017, the organization had granted 356 CPACC certifications.
