Recapping the GRASP Symposium

The 14th Annual Graduate Research and Scholarly Project (GRASP) Symposium was an awesome graduate student research fest!

Congratulations to all 101 graduate student presenters of 54 research posters who represented departments and programs from across the university and whose research covered wide-ranging topics. The event was a huge success. A special shout out to GRASP award winners:

1st place: Bharath Rao, Department of Industrial, Systems & Manufacturing and Department of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science. Advisors: Dr. Hongsheng He and Dr. Krishna Krishnan. Topic: "Learning Robotic Grasping Strategy Based on Natural-Language Object Descriptions."

2nd place: Ashley DeBrot, Department of Biology. Advisor: Dr. Li Yao. Topic: "Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell-Seeded Collagen Scaffolds as a Mechanism for Regeneration after Spinal Cord Injury."

3rd place: Brent Sarauer, Morgan Wiles and Andrew Scheer, Department of Physician Assistant. Advisors: Dr. Sue Nyberg; Dr. Paul Enns, Dr. Gina Berg KU School of Medicine. Topic: "Clinical Outcomes of Intermediate Length Cephalomedullary Nails for Intertrochanteric Femur Fracture Repair in Older Adults: A Case Series."

4th place: MarcArthur Limpiado, Department of Chemistry. Advisor: Dr. Moriah Beck. Topic: "Exploring the Role of Linker Region and Ig4 on the Activity of Palladin Ig34 Tandem Domain."

People's Choice, Heather Herrmann, Kelly Armstrong, Amber Bernelis, Cesali Shaver, McKenzie Spresser, and Sarah Van Asdale, Physician Assistant program. Advisors: Dr. Gina Brown and Michelle Wallace. Topic: "Cases Over the Lifespan of Patient Penny Adams."
