The city of Wichita has contracted with Kansas Paving to reconstruct Oliver Street between 17th and 19th Street starting this week. The work includes widening of Oliver to a five-lane roadway with two through lanes in each direction and a center two-way left-turn lane. A dedicated right turn lane also will be constructed for southbound Oliver onto 17th Street. The 17th and Oliver intersection will be reconstructed to include left-turn lanes in all directions, along with new traffic signals and brick crosswalks. A sidewalk will be constructed, including a 10-feet wide multi-use path on the west side of Oliver, north of 17th Street. The project should be completed by Aug. 15.
