KMUW holiday music specials
The Music Roundup, which airs every Wednesday on Morning Edition and is then posted on the KMUW Web site at http://www.kmuw.org, reviews a half dozen of the best new holiday CDs in a wide range of styles.
Saturday, Dec. 21: Crossroads Holiday Special
Crossroads, KMUW's blues and soul show, focuses in on holiday sounds in a special edition of the program. Crossroads airs Sundays at 7 p.m. on 89.1 FM, and also at 5 a.m., 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. on KMUW HD2.
Wednesday, Dec. 24: Global Village Holiday Special
Global Village presents seasonal sounds from around the world and seasonal favorites done in a variety of world music styles in a special holiday edition of the show. Global Village airs Monday through Friday at 9 p.m. on KMUW. You also can hear Global Village on the KMUW-HD2 Mondays through Thursdays at midnight, 9 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Fridays at 5 p.m.
Thursday, Dec. 25: Beat Latino: Feliz Navidad!
A special program for Christmas Day highlights holiday songs done in a wide array of Latin styles. The special runs in the Global Village timeslot, at 9 p.m. on 89.1 FM and also at midnight, 9 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on KMUW HD2.
Sunday, Dec. 28, and Friday, Jan. 2: Crossroads and Global Village Tribute Week
KMUW sees out the year with a remembrance of some of the many fine musicians who passed away in the last year. Crossroads on Sunday, Dec. 28, features a salute to Isaac Hayes. During the week, Global Village remembers Miriam Makeba, Cachao, Yma Sumac and Bo Diddley, among others. Crossroads, KMUW's blues and soul show, airs Sundays at 7 p.m. on 89.1 FM, and also at 5 a.m., 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. on KMUW HD2.
